Can I Connect My Own Domain?

Yes, absolutely. You can use any domain you own with your Wildcore website. Here's how it works.

How Domain Connection Works

Your Wildcore website is hosted on Vercel's edge network. Connecting your domain means pointing your domain's DNS records to Vercel's servers. Here's the process:

  1. You tell us your domain (e.g., yourbusiness.com)
  2. We add it to your Vercel project and generate the required DNS records
  3. You (or we) update your DNS settings at your domain registrar
  4. DNS propagates (usually 15 minutes to 48 hours)
  5. SSL certificate is issued automatically — your site is served over HTTPS
  6. Your site is live on your custom domain

What If I Don't Have a Domain Yet?

No problem. Here are your options:

  • Free subdomain included — Every Wildcore site gets a free subdomain (e.g., yourbusiness.wildcore.studio) that works immediately. Great for prototypes and previewing.
  • We can help you register one — Domains typically cost $10–$20/year from registrars like Namecheap, Google Domains, or IONOS. We'll walk you through the process.
  • Buy it yourself — Purchase from any registrar and we'll handle the connection.

Custom Domain at Any Tier

Domain connection is available on every hosting tier — from Starter ($19/mo) all the way up. There's no premium charge for using your own domain. You just need to own one.

SSL Certificates (HTTPS)

SSL is automatic and free. When you connect your domain:

  • A Let's Encrypt SSL certificate is issued automatically
  • Your site is served exclusively over HTTPS
  • HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS
  • The certificate auto-renews — you never have to think about it

No need to buy an SSL certificate separately. No need to install anything. It just works.

DNS Configuration Details

For the technically curious, here's what the DNS setup looks like:

For Root Domain (yourbusiness.com)

Type: A
Name: @
Value: 76.76.21.21

For WWW Subdomain (www.yourbusiness.com)

Type: CNAME
Name: www
Value: cname.vercel-dns.com

We handle both the root domain and the www version. Visitors can type either one and reach your site.

Migrating from an Existing Website

If you already have a website on your domain and you're switching to Wildcore:

  1. We build your new site on a temporary URL while your old site stays live
  2. You review and approve the new site
  3. We coordinate the DNS switch — this is the moment your domain starts pointing to the new Wildcore site
  4. Minimal downtime — typically less than 5 minutes if DNS is pre-configured. Full propagation can take up to 48 hours, but most visitors see the new site within minutes.

Common Migration Scenarios

From Wix:

  • Change your domain's nameservers away from Wix, or update A/CNAME records if using external DNS
  • Wix sites can coexist briefly during propagation

From Squarespace:

  • Remove the domain from your Squarespace settings
  • Update DNS records at your registrar

From GoDaddy/WordPress hosting:

  • Update A and CNAME records in GoDaddy's DNS management
  • Cancel your old hosting after confirming the switch

From another registrar:

  • We provide the exact DNS records
  • You paste them into your registrar's DNS settings
  • No domain transfer required (you keep your registrar)

Multiple Domains

Want to point multiple domains to the same site? (e.g., yourbusiness.com AND yourbiz.com)

  • Primary domain — your main URL, used for SEO and branding
  • Additional domains — automatically redirect to your primary domain
  • No extra charge for domain redirects on any hosting tier

Email and Domain

Connecting your domain to Wildcore does not affect your email. Your MX records (which control email delivery) are separate from your A/CNAME records (which control your website). Your email keeps working exactly as before.

If you're setting up email for the first time (e.g., corey@yourbusiness.com), we can help you configure Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or any email provider alongside your Wildcore site.

Common Questions

Q: Do I need to transfer my domain to Wildcore? A: No. Keep your domain at whatever registrar you prefer. We just need DNS access (or we'll tell you exactly what records to add).

Q: How long does DNS propagation take? A: Usually 15 minutes to 2 hours. In rare cases, up to 48 hours. Most visitors see the change within an hour.

Q: Can I use a domain I bought on Wix/Squarespace? A: Yes. You may need to unlock the domain and update nameservers, but it works with any registrar.
