How Do Revisions Work?
Revisions are your opportunity to shape the final product. Here's exactly how the process works, what counts as a revision, and how many rounds you get.
What Is a "Revision Round"?
A revision round is one complete cycle of:
- You review the current version of your site
- You send feedback — everything you want changed, added, or removed
- We implement all of your changes
- We deliver the updated version for your review
Important: A round includes ALL the feedback you send at once. If you send us 15 things to change, that's one round. The key is to collect all your feedback before sending it, rather than sending changes one at a time.
Revision Rounds by Tier
| Build Tier | Revision Rounds | Turnaround Per Round |
|---|---|---|
| Starter ($199) | 1 round | 1–2 business days |
| Standard ($699) | 3 rounds | 1–2 business days |
| Premium ($1,499) | Unlimited reasonable | 1–3 business days |
| Enterprise ($2,499+) | Unlimited with priority | 1–2 business days |
What Counts as a Revision
Revisions cover changes to the website we've built for you. Here's what falls within scope:
Design Revisions
- Changing colors, fonts, or spacing
- Rearranging sections on a page
- Adjusting the layout of specific components
- Modifying animations or hover effects
- Changing image placement or sizing
- Updating the navigation structure
Content Revisions
- Rewriting headlines or body copy
- Swapping photos or adding new images
- Updating business information (hours, address, phone)
- Adding or removing menu items, services, or team members
- Changing CTAs (calls to action)
Functional Revisions
- Adjusting form fields
- Changing how a feature behaves (e.g., accordion vs. tabs)
- Modifying mobile-specific layouts
- Tweaking SEO meta tags or descriptions
What Does NOT Count as a Revision
Some changes go beyond revision scope. These are treated as scope changes or add-ons:
- Adding entirely new pages not in the original proposal
- Adding new features not discussed during discovery (e.g., a booking system, e-commerce)
- Complete design overhauls — "Start over with a completely different style" is a new project, not a revision
- Third-party integration changes — Switching from one booking platform to another
- Content creation from scratch — If you need us to write entirely new pages of content beyond what was scoped
If something falls outside revision scope, we'll let you know and provide a quote for the additional work before proceeding. No surprises.
Content Updates vs. Design Changes
After your site launches, there's an important distinction:
Content updates (covered by your hosting plan):
- Changing text on existing pages
- Swapping images
- Updating hours, prices, or contact info
- Adding a new team member to an existing team page
- Updating a menu or service list
Design changes (may require additional development):
- Redesigning a page layout
- Adding a new section type that doesn't exist yet
- Changing the overall visual style
- Adding interactive features or animations
Your managed hosting plan includes a certain number of content updates per month (1 for Starter, 3 for Growth, unlimited for Pro/Business). Design changes beyond minor tweaks are quoted separately.
Tips for Effective Revisions
Batch your feedback — Collect all changes before sending. "Here are 12 things" is much better than 12 separate emails over 3 days.
Be specific — "Make the header bigger" is harder to action than "Increase the hero headline to roughly 48px and make it bold."
Use screenshots — Circle or annotate what you want changed. A picture is worth a thousand revision notes.
Prioritize — If you have 20 items, mark the must-haves vs. nice-to-haves. This helps us focus on what matters most.
Reference examples — "I want the services section to look more like [this website]" gives us a clear target.
Include mobile feedback — Check your site on your phone and include mobile-specific notes.
What Happens After You Use All Your Rounds?
If you've used all your revision rounds and still want changes:
- Minor tweaks — We'll usually handle small items as a courtesy
- Significant changes — We'll quote additional revision rounds (typically $99–$199 per round depending on complexity)
- Upgrade option — You can upgrade to a higher tier to unlock more rounds
We're not trying to nickel-and-dime you. The revision limits exist to keep projects on track and on budget. Most clients don't use all their rounds.
